Prof. Shmuel Fuchs

Director, Cardiology Department

 

Prof. Fuchs is a specialist in interventional cardiology, coronary heart disease, coronary artery disease treatment and prevention, and sports cardiology. He is the Cardiology Department director for the past six years, and formerly the head of interventional cardiology at Rabin Medical Center, Golda Campus and founder and head of a unique internal-cardiology ward treating complex cardiac patients using an interdisciplinary approach at Rabin Medical Center.

Prof. Fuchs graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed his residency in internal medicine and cardiology at Hadassah University Medical Center. He trained in cardiac catheterization at Washington Hospital Center, Washington D.C., where he pioneered and headed coronary intervention for renewal coronary blood vessel formation.

Prof. Fuchs is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions, the European Society of Cardiology and the Israel Cardiology Association. He was the secretary general of the Interventional Cardiology work group and is currently chairperson of the Sports Cardiology Forum at the Israel Cardiology Association. Prof. Fuchs has over 150 publications.
