About Us
The Sagol Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Research at Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh) was established in 1997 and operates the largest and most sophisticated multiplace hyperbaric oxygen chambers globally. The chambers provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) treatment to help people suffering from a variety of medical conditions. Though HBOT treatment is classically used to treat chronic non-healing wounds and other acute indications such as decompression sickness, CO intoxication, and acute retinal artery occlusion, the Sagol Center has taken a leading role in pioneering research on the treatment’s regenerative effects and ability to induce neuroplasticity. This has allowed the Center to treat patients for a variety of additional complex cognitive conditions such as:
Age related functional and cognitive decline, stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and chronic pain syndrome.
