Teaching & Research

The hospital is part of the Tel Aviv University faculty of Medicine and all the clinical wards are accredited for specialist training by the Academic Council of the Israeli Medical Association. Of the 930 staff doctors of the hospital, many are residents training in the different medical, surgical and pediatric specialties and sub-specialties in order to be eligible for the Specialty Boards.  All the medical and surgical divisions are university-affiliated teaching units, providing bedside teaching to Israeli and American students all year round.

 

The hospital is also a JCI certified in the academic field, attesting to its adherence to the highest academic standards.

 

The Medical Center houses on its campus an Academic Nursing School, part of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, an Academic Physiotherapy School, and an Academic Medical Imaging Technicians School.

 

Our Academic Nursing School, one of the largest in Israel, has a 4-year academic program for a nursing license and a BA degree in nursing, in affiliation with the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.  In addition, there are post-graduate specialty courses of 6 to 12 months in all fields of modern nursing including general intensive care, coronary intensive care, dialysis, surgical nursing, obstetrics, etc.  Today we have over 500 students in the Nursing School.  In addition, the Nursing School holds numerous courses for new immigrants.

 

The Academic Physiotherapy School offers a program for a BA Degree in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences to 120 students of the Tel-Aviv University Sackler School of Medicine.  It is the oldest school of physiotherapy in Israel.

 

The Research Activities comprise basic, clinical, molecular biology, and applied pharmacological research projects.  The Center has advanced experimental laboratories and a state-of-the-art animal facility with professional veterinary services, and all the facilities required according to the Helsinki provisions.
