New Board Members

We are pleased to announce that Asi Schmelzer and Sharon Haroz have joined the Board of the Friends of the Shamir Medical Center, which is headed by Yair Shamir. Asi And Sharon join Yair Shamir and current members Maria Aron, Daniel Benaim, Dan Bernitzky, Varda Burshtein, Ohad Levkovitz, Moshe Mor, Smadar Nimrodi-Rinot, and Yoram Yahav.

The members of the board of the Friends Association are the Medical Center’s philanthropic leadership, whose voluntary service is based on a sense of mission and faith in the Shamir Medical Center and its pursuit of innovative humane medicine.

This is our chance to thank each one of you for your involvement and partnership.

Asi Schmeltzer is the Chairman of Shlomo Holdings since 2014. He also serves as Chairman of. Sh.I.R. Shlomo Motors Import, importer of the Opel brand, from the GM Group to Israel; serves as a director of Gold Bond, specializing in warehouse, transportation, and logistics solutions for all cargo and container types; and Chairman of the Board of the Israel Shipyards Port. He holds an MBA degree from the Richmond University in England. The Schmeltzer family helped establish the Shlomo Schmeltzer Neurology Institute at the Shamir Medical Center.

Sharon Haroz, a senior procurement specialist Analytics/ML at Amazon Web Services (AWS), holds an MBA from Tel Aviv University. Sharon is the daughter of the late Ziggi Gonchorovsky, whose founded the Gonchorovsky Family Microbiome Research Center at Shamir Medical Center, and, more recently, an annual research conference commemorating Ziggi Gonchorovsky.
