Director’s Message

The Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh) is Israel's fourth-largest government university hospital and the Shfelah region's central hospital. We serve over 1,500,000 people annually in dozens of departments, institutes, clinics and laboratories in all medical sub-specialties.

Our medical center is based on a unique combination of optimal medical service, personal relations, advanced and sophisticated medical equipment, innovative technologies, and scientific research. The medical center has excellent departments and international clinical centers conducted in a pleasant family atmosphere typical of small hospitals. This personal treatment and family-like environment is the source of our pride – we believe this atmosphere distinguishes us from other medical centers and is essential to our warm and personal relationships with our patients.

In February 2014, thanks to the quality and professionalism of the treatment carried out in our medical center, we joined a prestigious group of leading hospitals worldwide that are entitled to the international standard JCI. The medical center has also passed the academic examination, indicating that it meets the academic and research requirements of the JCI organization.

Our medical center will continue this spirit into the future, constantly improving the quality of care and service and fostering centers of excellence for the well-being of our patients.
